Public involvement
The Overview and Scrutiny Panel meetings are open to the public. A member of the public may request to speak on any agenda item for three minutes. Public involvement in the scrutiny process helps the councillors to understand the needs of local people and assists them, in providing accessible and responsive services to improve the quality of life for residents. This may also be done by:
- setting up of consultation exercises
- arranging site visits
- asking public and other stakeholders to appear as witnesses
- encouraging the public to submit items for inclusion in the work programme
