Event review - Milesians
The "Milesians - The Coming of the Gaels" performance occurred on Sunday, 30 June, in Bedworth.
This event was supported by Arts Council England, The Higgs Trust, Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Bedworth Civic Hall, and All Saints Church.
Imagineer in partnership with Circolombia and the Creative Explorers Project created an outdoor performance with local professional artists, International Colombian artists, and local community performers in Church Way, Bedworth, on the final weekend of June.
The production is based on a myth shared by Ireland and Spain which recounts the long migration of the Milesians forced to leave their land and their battle with the Tuatha De Dannan – race of the gods for the island of Ireland. It explores how two cultures can reconcile and live respectfully side by side.
The story was told by a deaf actor through British Sign Language and an ensemble company through a combination of physical theatre, circus and music. It was a free successful family event attracting over 1,400 audience over the three performances.
