MHCLG Long Term Plan for Bedworth

In March 2024, DLUHC (Department for Levelling Up,Housing & Communities) announced that Bedworth was selected as part of the second wave as one of the 20 towns, eligible for £20 million endowment-style funding.

The Long-Term Plan (LTP) for Towns was set to be based on an endowment-style approach. Which meant that funding was to be released over a seven-year period, and local authorities have flexibility to spend it over 10 years.

Progress

Prior to LTP being placed on hold due to a change in administration. NBBC collaborated with stakeholders such as local businesses, education, community, and faith-based groups. Alongside our local MP and elected members, whereby governance and LTP for Bedworth Board were established, and were due to hold our first introductory meeting at the Town Hall.

Autumn Statement Update - Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG)

Following the statement update on 30 October 2024, it was confirmed that the Long-Term Plan for Towns programme would be retained and reformed. As part of a new regeneration programme.

MHCLG will work in partnership with the 75 places across the UK that were previously selected to receive funding under the Long-Term Plan for Towns, alongside local and devolved government, to supercharge the delivery of the five national missions. Each place will receive up to £20 million of funding and support over the next decade, giving communities the space and resource to build their vision for renewal.

This reformed programme will bring together residents, businesses, and community representatives to drive forward the change they want to see and ensure that everyone, regardless of their background, can benefit.

Next steps

Nuneaton and Bedworth Brough Council now awaits a revised prospectus for the programme from MHCLG, which will be published in due course. This will confirm the associated timelines and a new set of strategic objectives aligned to this government’s missions. Which enable us to move forward in line with government requirements.
