Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has achieved the coveted Thrive at Work award in recognition of its wellbeing commitment to council employees.
Following a review of the organisation, including interviews with 30 members of staff, the authority has been recognised with the bronze Thrive at Work award, confirming its full commitment to the wellbeing of its employees.
A mix of field, hybrid, and office-based staff formed the interviewees, including members of senior management, team leaders, officers, and operatives.
All staff interviewed felt the organisation takes positive action on the health and wellbeing of its employees and that welfare is embedded into the organisation.
Employees also felt that communication in the organisation was good and that ample opportunities are available for them to discuss health and wellbeing with management.
The assessment report noted that ‘there is a clear commitment at senior level’ and with all employees having access to trained Mental Health First Aiders in the instance ‘they did not wish to speak to their immediate manager or colleagues.’
Cllr Steve Hey, Portfolio Holder for Resources and Customer Service, said:
“We are very proud to be recognised by receiving the Thrive at Work award.
“As an authority, we strive to make the borough a great place to live, work and visit, and the organisation itself is no exception.
“This achievement highlights the Borough Council’s ongoing commitment to its employees.”
Assessor Jenny Duggan, Thrive at Work Lead, in her report said:
“The evidence provided and the interviews that were held all gave assurance that Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is fully committed to the wellbeing of its employees.
“Having carried out the accreditation process rigorously and in accordance with the Thrive at Work assessment criteria, I conclude that Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has achieved Bronze Level accreditation of the Thrive at Work Award.”
The next review of the accreditation is set to take place in August 2027.
