plastic duck with paper hat

Whilst you are coming to the Imagine Bamboo event in Riversley Park on Saturday, 14 September, why not drop into Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery, there is lots to do.

You can handle items from the museum’s collection made of bamboo which inspired the artists’ creations currently on display in Riversley Park.

See how many different cultures have used this sustainable material in many ways. This hands-on event will run from 11am to 3:30pm.

Younger visitors can spot the Riversley Park ducks who are promoting an environmental message with their handmade hats made from recycled materials.

We also have three wonderful temporary exhibitions on show for all nature and art lovers.

Endangered and Extinct: ‘Reincarnated Rubbish’, exhibition by creative recycling artist Val Hunt

Piece from Artist Val Hunt collection

This stunning exhibition by Coventry artist Val Hunt raises awareness of the animals and plants we have either already lost or stand to lose from our world, with intricate pieces created from all manner of recycled materials.

This bumper exhibition includes more than ninety pieces of work and ranges from the terrifying Tyrannosaurus Rex to the humble bumblebee.

Cusp by Anne Guest

This series of Cyanotype artworks show the beauty and fragility of nature at a time when we appear to be on the cusp of losing so much.

Walking With Trees by Hilary Morris

Popular local artist Hilary Morris has turned her attention to trees and her delicate watercolour and ink paintings are now on show in our Landing Gallery.

Our permanent galleries are also full of great activities that families can get involved in.

Cllr Tim Jenkins, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Communities and Health said:

“If you are attending the Imagine Bamboo event in Riversley Park on Saturday take the time to visit the museum, there are some great exhibitions and lots for families to enjoy for free.

The museum is open from 10.30am to 4.30pm on Saturday 14 September. For a full list of opening hours, visit the Nuneaton Museum & Art Gallery webpage.
