Don and Auriol Jacques

The funeral of former Mayor and Alderman Don Jacques BEM will take place on Monday, November 25.

His funeral cortege will stop at the Town Hall in Nuneaton at 11am and will make its way to the Heart of England Crematorium for a service at 11.45am.

The Borough Flag at the Town Hall will be lowered as a mark of respect on the day of the funeral.

Alderman Jacques’ wake will then be held at the Gurkha Corner pub.

Flowers or donations if preferred for the Royal British Legion, may be sent to Devall & Son Funeral Directors at The Green in Attleborough or made online.

Mr Jacques served as Nuneaton and Bedworth Mayor from 1995 to 1996 and represented St Nicolas ward as a councillor as well as being a member of Warwickshire County Council.

He was leader of the Conservative group for many years and was instrumental in the ‘Roll of Honour’ for the fallen that were not listed on the War Memorial in Riversley Park.

His efforts saw him made an Honorary Alderman of Nuneaton and Bedworth in March 2022.

Mr Jacques' wife, Auriol, who served as his Mayoress died in October 2021, aged 90. He is survived by son Keith and daughter Valerie.
