Sergeant Simon Valentine Way, Bedworth

Works to provide a new Toucan crossing facility and a shared use path into Miners’ Welfare Park in Bedworth is due to commence next week, Monday, 24 February.

The Toucan crossing, which will be installed on Sergeant Simon Valentine Way, will greatly improve access between the park and the town centre.

The works are expected to take approximately six weeks and are likely to cause some disruption, with traffic management controls needing to be in place at times during the work.

Central Government Levelling Up Fund (LUF), now overseen through Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government (MHCLG), has enabled this project to take place.

Warwickshire County Council is supporting the Borough Council in the design, procurement, and delivery of this exciting project.

We kindly ask the public for their tolerance and understanding of any inconvenience that results during these works as we look to bring you this brand-new facility.

Cllr Tim Jenkins, Portfolio holder for Leisure, Communities and Health, said:

“The Toucan crossing will not only allow for easier access between the town centre and the park, but it will also encourage active travel as well as providing a specific area where cyclists and pedestrians can cross the road safely.”

“We apologise for any inconvenience that these works will cause and continue to work closely with our construction contractor to minimise the impact as much as possible.”
