Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has bucked the national upward trend in fly tipping with a reduction in its borough of over 10 per cent.

Fly tipping statistics from the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA) for the year 23/24 shows that the total reported incidents for the borough of Nuneaton and Bedworth have fallen by 200 from the previous year, and that there has been an increase in actions taken by the Council in tackling the issue.

With every other Council in Warwickshire seeing an increase in fly-tipping and NBBC being the largest borough Council, these figures show great results.

Cllr Rob Roze, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Enforcement, said:

"The latest figures show that our continued focus on enforcement, education, and rapid response is making a real difference.

“We are committed to keeping our borough clean and ensuring that those who dump waste illegally are held accountable.

“While there is still work to do, this progress is encouraging, and we will continue working to improve further."

Cllr Jill Sheppard, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Public Services, added:

“While there has been reported increase in incidents of six per cent nationally in fly-tipping, I’m pleased that we have bucked the national trend with a reduction in Nuneaton and Bedworth of over 10%.

“We will continue to work hard to keep the borough clean, taking action against those who choose to blight the lives of others through their actions.”
