Fly-tipping at Vernons Lane, Nuneaton

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is appealing for information after a large amount of fly-tipping took place at Vernons Lane, Nuneaton between 6:m on Tuesday and 9am on Wednesday.

Council operatives and enforcement officers were quick to respond and the site was clear by midday on Wednesday.

Alastair Blunkett, Assistant Director for Environment and Enforcement at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:

“We are currently following several lines of enquiry to find those responsible and will, as always, look to enforce against anyone found responsible for the crime.

“Fly-tipping is not only a crime, but also anti-social and effects the lives of those law-abiding borough residents who make the correct use of our waste collection services and recycling.

“The Council works hard to make sure those responsible for the crimes are brought to justice and always will.’’

Cllr Rob Roze, Portfolio Holder for Planning and Enforcement, said:

“The Council will, and actively do, look to take action against those found responsible, including issuing Fixed Penalty Notices or prosecuting, which can result in a criminal record and unlimited fines.

“Our enforcement teams work tirelessly to investigate incidents, and our strong track record in reducing fly-tipping across the borough speaks for itself. However, we need the public’s help to identify those responsible.

“If you have any information, please come forward so we can hold offenders to account and keep our borough clean and safe for all.”

Please email customer.services@nuneatonandbedworth.gov.uk if you have any information about the fly-tip at Vernon’s Lane that could help to bring those responsible to justice.

Recently released figures show that Nuneaton and Bedworth has less fly-tips than our surrounding councils thanks to our active enforcement work, but the borough is still blighted by irresponsible offenders.

The Council’s fly-tipping statistics show some superb results.
