Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council has joined other Warwickshire councils in submitting an interim plan for Local Government reform in Warwickshire.
This is in response to the English Devolution White Paper, which is the Government’s statement of its plans to devolve power from Westminster to local areas and reform local government.
This includes a wide range of proposals on devolution but also wider plans for Local Government Reorganisation.
Tom Shardlow, Chief Executive at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:
“The local government restructure presents an important step for Warwickshire, and we are committed to engaging in the process.
“We remain mindful of the challenges that lie ahead and must ensure that whichever approach is taken, it is made with the best interests of residents of Nuneaton and Bedworth.”
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will continue to work closely with regional partners to ensure that the devolution process is implemented effectively and that the benefits of this new governance model are felt across the borough.
A dedicated webpage for Frequently Asked Questions has been created, which includes a timeline for Local Government Reorganisation in Warwickshire.
