As part of its commitment to promoting sustainable living practices, Warwickshire Waste Partnership hosts two, face-to-face home composting sessions in Bedworth Library, on Wednesday, 16 April.
Open to all residents and aimed at adults and children alike, these free, hour-long sessions will take place at 10:30am and noon at the High Street building and can be booked via the Family Home Composting Workshop Eventbrite page.
The sessions are aimed at encouraging households to take up home composting as a way of reducing waste and improving the quality of their gardens.
Attendees will have the opportunity to learn about the benefits of home composting, including how it can help to reduce waste, save money, and improve soil health. They will also receive practical advice on how to set up and maintain a compost bin and will have the chance to ask questions.
They are also suitable for families who have been composting for years but are having a few problems with their compost bin. The aim is to help create a fabulously rich soil conditioner out of unwanted food and garden waste.
There will be fun activities for all including videos, paper pot making, children’s colouring, and an opportunity to look at composting worms through a magnifying glass.
In addition to learning more about composting, all Warwickshire resident attendees will be eligible to receive a £10 discount off a compost bin, limited to one per household.
Strategic Director for Public Services, Kevin Hollis said:
“This workshop will allow residents to learn about composting and get a composting bin at a reduced cost.
“More workshops will take place in the borough throughout the summer, as our aim is to help as many residents as possible learn about the benefits of making compost and enable them to do so in a cost-efficient way.”
Details of other home composting workshops held around the county, as well as tips and compost bin discounts for Warwickshire residents can be found on the Warwickshire County Council website.
