Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is pleased to announce that it has stepped in to ensure a mobile CT Scanner unit will remain in the borough to provide a vital healthcare service to residents.
The unit, which will be used for lung cancer screening, will be situated at Pingles Leisure Centre car park in Nuneaton for two weeks from 16 to 21 April and 26 to 31 May.
This move comes as a response to capacity issues at the scanner’s current location.
In stepping in to host the unit, the Council aims to facilitate the smooth continuation and delivery of healthcare service services.
The initiative will help ensure that appointments are delivered locally and efficiently for the community of the borough.
Katie Memetovic-Bye, Assistant Director for Recreation and Culture at Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, said:
“We are proud to support our community by hosting this screening unit at Pingles Leisure Centre car park.
“It’s a small step that can make a big difference in ensuring vital health services remain accessible to residents of the borough.”
Award-winning leisure operator Everyone Active runs Pingles Leisure Centre in partnership with Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council.
Lloyd Barraclough, Everyone Active’s Area Contract Manager, said:
“We are pleased to play our part in supporting the health of the local community, both inside and outside our centre, and we look forward to welcoming this screening service.”
Further similar arrangements are being considered by the Council over the coming months to assist in meeting the healthcare needs of the borough.
While a small number of car parking spaces will be unavailable during this time to facilitate the unit, the impact on overall parking availability is expected to be minimal.
