The Borough Plan Review was submitted to the Secretary of State for its independent Examination on 12 February 2024, now an independent Examination of the Plan will be conducted.

The Secretary of State has appointed Mike Worden and Beverley Wilders to carry out an independent Examination of the Plan and subsequently issue a report with conclusions.

As part of the independent Examination, the Inspectors will hold a number of public hearing sessions.

The hearings will be divided into three blocks:

  • Block one of the hearing sessions will be held during the week beginning 8 July 2024. The hearing sessions will commence on Tuesday, 9 July 2024 at 10:00am until Friday, 12 July 2024 (these subsequent days will start at 9:30am).
  • Block two of the hearing sessions will be held the week beginning 23 September 2024. The hearing sessions will commence on Tuesday, 24 September 2024 at 10:00am until Thursday, 26 September 2024 with Friday, 27 September 2024 held as reserve. (Other than the Tuesday, these days will start at 9:30am).
  • Block three of the hearing sessions will be held the week beginning 7 October 2024. The hearing sessions will commence on Tuesday, 8 October 2024 at 10.00am until Wednesday, 9 October, with Thursday, 10 October held as reserve. (Other than the Tuesday, these days will start at 9:30am).

The hearing sessions will be held at: Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council, Town Hall, Coton Road, Nuneaton, CV11 5AA.

Portfolio Holder for Planning and Enforcement, Cllr Rob Roze, said:

“The forthcoming Examination in Public for the Borough Plan Review is a significant step forward in the plan making process.

“It provides an opportunity for the Council as well as those who submitted representations at the Regulation 19 Publication Stage to discuss those matters to be examined during the specified hearing sessions as set out by the Inspectors.

“There is an opportunity for those who have not formally submitted representations to come and watch the hearings take place.”

The matters, issues and questions for the hearing sessions taking place in July have been published on the examination website this week, along with a guidance note and outline programme.

The website can also be referred to for full details of the of the hearing sessions and to check any changes or updates to the programme. Hearing statements relating to the sessions commencing on 9 July 2024 need to be submitted to the Programme Officer by Monday, 17 June.

The examination Programme Officer, Helen Wilson, will shortly be contacting each person who submitted a representation to the publication stage as these will be required to confirm participation by Monday, 3 June 2024.
