Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is aware of an incident that occurred on the afternoon of Friday, 21 June, at Bedworth outdoor market.

Warwickshire Police has confirmed a 52-year-old Bedworth woman has been arrested at the weekend under suspicion of making malicious communications.

The authority was notified of the situation by market stall traders, and the matter was reported to Warwickshire Police.

CCTV images captured by the Council of the suspect have been shared with Warwickshire Police.

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council understands the concern this has caused in the local community, and will work with the police to address these concerns and support the police investigation.

Inspector Ryan Walker from Nuneaton and Bedworth Safer Neighbourhood Team said:

“We understand the concern this has caused in the community, and we are committed to fully investigating.

“One of the lines of inquiry we are following at the moment is that there are wider underlying issues that need to be dealt with sensitively by all involved.”
