Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is once again supporting local organisations by offering two grant schemes to help with community issues.

Following on from the success of the grants programme in 2023, the Community Safety Grant Scheme is being offered again for 2024.

Applicants can apply for grants of up to £5,000 to address priorities including serious violence, domestic abuse / violence, anti-social behaviour and hate crime.

New for 2024 is the Community Development Fund, with grants also available of up to £5,000.

This is a broader scheme that enables organisations to fund projects within following categories:

  • Projects that promote residents’ health and wellbeing (including physical, emotional, mental and sexual health.)
  • Projects that support communities by improving existing community facilities, provide education and learning opportunities or celebrate and promote heritage.
  • Programmes that offer learning and engagement, specifically for people below the age of 25.

Both schemes are designed to help organisations develop bespoke solutions, pilot ideas and utilise existing good practice to address longstanding or new and emerging issues affecting our communities.

Funded by the UK government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund, both schemes will be accepting applications from Monday, 22 July 2024.

All applications should be for one-off funding for a specific project and only one application per project may be made.

Applicants may apply to both grant schemes for separate and distinct projects.

Organisations that received funding during the 2023 round of grants are eligible to apply for the 2024 grant schemes for different projects.

The closing date for applications is Monday, 30 September 2024 at 5:00pm, any applications received after this time will not be considered for funding.

Cllr Tim Jenkins, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Communities and Health, said:

“These grant schemes have been vital in supporting community organisations across the borough.

“We have already seen some great work being implemented in our communities via the use of this money and we want this to continue.

“Ultimately, our aim is to build community engagement, reduce crime and create a united Borough where people feel safe and supported.”
