Marlborough Road survey results revealed

Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council will be improving facilities at Marlborough Road Recreation Ground in Nuneaton and has listened to residents' views.

The play equipment has been well used, so it is time for a refresh, and the Council is looking to get the best value for money and improve the facilities on offer.

To that end, the Council conducted an online survey and a consultation event at the Community Centre in Edward Street, Nuneaton.

As a result of comments obtained within the survey, a good understanding was gained as to who uses the park, the frequency of use, and the types of activities it is used for.

The Council will now put together a refurbishment plan to address the main issues highlighted through the consultation within the overall approved budget.

Included in the plan are:

  • New young children’s play area
  • New football goals with artificial goal mouths (already installed)
  • New older children’s play equipment
  • Outdoor fitness equipment
  • More benches and bins
  • Moving paths and entrances, this priority could be costly and will be considered once all other costs for the refurbishment have been received

Cllr Tim Jenkins, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Communities and Health, said:

“We would like to thank all residents that came to the consultation event and spoke to officers, as well as all those that filled out the consultation questionnaire online.

“We appreciate the time taken to comment on the refurbishment of what is a very well used and loved local park.’’
