Local Code of Corporate Governance
Corporate Governance is about how the Council ensures it is doing the right things, in the right way, for the right people in a timely, inclusive, open, honest, and accountable manner. It comprises systems, processes, cultures, and values by which the Council is directed and controlled and through which it accounts to, engages with and, where appropriate, leads the community.
Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council is committed to the principles of good corporate governance and demonstrate its ongoing commitment and intentions through the adoption of a Local Code of Corporate Governance, which is based on the seven principles of good governance:
- Behaving with integrity and in accordance with our core values
- Being open and ensuring effective engagement takes place
- Working together to achieve our intended outcomes
- Setting goals for economic, social, and environmental benefits and reaching them
- Growing our capacity – including our leadership and the people who work with us
- Managing risks and performance through robust internal control and strong financial management
- Implementing good practice in transparency, reporting and audit – delivering effective accountability
