Community Infrastructure Levy
The Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) is a fee allowing local authorities to raise funds for local infrastructure such as roads, schools and parks from owners or developers of land undertaking new building projects in their area. It is implemented through the Community Infrastructure Levy Regulations 2010.
On the 26th May 2021, the Council resolved not to submit a CIL Charging Schedule to the Secretary of State for independent examination, at a Cabinet meeting, and to keep legislation and government policy under review in order to consider whether a revised levy approach is required for the Council to pursue.
This was due to findings indicating that the introduction of a CIL Charging Schedule, in Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough, would be unviable.
Further guidance on CIL can be found on the government website.
