What to do in the event of a fire
To report a fire, call 999 immediately and ask for the fire service. The evacuation strategy is as follows:
In the event of a fire inside your property
You must:
- Shout - make everyone in your household aware
- Get out - leave your property immediately and close your door
- Get the fire brigade out - call 999
- Stay out - follow the emergency exit route signs to leave the building, and go to the assembly point and stay there
In the event of a fire outside your property
You must:
- Stay Put, Stay Safe (stay inside your property with all doors and windows closed)
- Leave your property only if advised to do so
- If it is safe to do so, leave your property, follow the emergency exit route signs, and go to the assembly point and stay there
What you should not do
Under any circumstances, you must not:
- Tackle the fire yourself
- Collect any belongings
- Use the lift
We have adopted a Stay Put, Stay Safe fire safety policy.
